According to the Daily Mirror, English clubs Arsenal and Tottenham are going head-to head to snatch Basel centre-half Fabian Schar.
Arsenal has been linked with the player since November but the club stepped up their interest when Coach Neil Banfield watched him at Basel’s Champions League game against Chelsea. The £10million-rated star impressed the scouts with his performance in Europe and is highly regarded by Arsene Wenger.
Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini also has his sights on Schar to boost the Tottenham defense, which crumbled under the attacking power of Manchester City last week. And Schar’s price is expected to rise with the introduction of Spurs into the proceedings.
