Reports in Italy suggest that Arsenal are interested in a move for Roma’s young striker Mattia Destro. Italian sports show Rai TV suggest that the Gunners are keen to bring in the 22-year-old to add to their striking options, despite the fact that he has made just four Serie A appearances this season.
Destro missed the start of the season through injury, but has featured in Roma’s last four league fixtures. During his spell on the sidelines, Destro has seen Francesco Totti and Gervinho cement their places in the team.
However, Destro has impressed during his return. Despite starting two of his four appearances from the bench, the Italian has scored three goals and provided one assist this season.
Arsenal are keen to add to their striking options, as their already light forward cover has been struck by injury. Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott are both facing spells on the sidelines, whilst Olivier Giroud has also been struck by injury recently.
Destro joined Roma in 2012 and has since made 24 appearances, scoring nine goals. He also has four international caps, with one Italy goal to his name.
75% of Destro’s shots this season have found the back of the net.
