Arsene Wenger has lined up Borussia Dortmund’s Lukasz Piszczek as Bacary Sagna’s replacement if the Frenchman decides to leave the club in the summer, reports Metro.

Sagna, 31, has been with the north Londoners for seven years following a move from Auxerre and is a key member of the team’s defensive unit but has failed to agree a contract extension.

His current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and negotiations are no closer to being resolved although he is now free to talk to other clubs. The full-back is expected to be receive several financially lucrative offers and his departure would represented a significant blow for the Gunners chief.

However, Wenger has already begun the search for his replacement with Dortmund’s Piszczek earmarked as his top target.

The 28-year-old has produced a string of impressive performances for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are currently second in the Bundesliga, and could be tempted by a move to the Premier League.

The Polish international right-back is reportedly frustrated with Dortmund’s failure to retain their best players, with forward Robert Lewandowski the latest star to join rivals Bayern Munich.

Arsenal believe Piszczek will be available for around £7 million and would provide competition for their England Under-21 international Carl Jenkinson.
