Barcelona are reportedly planning a blockbuster move to land Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah. The 32-year-old has been at Anfield since the summer of 2017 and has been one of their key players.
Salah has been in top form this season, contributing 12 goals and 10 assists in 18 outings across competitions. That includes 10 goals and six assists in 12 games in the Premier League, where Arne Slot's side are eight points clear at the top.
Coming off a two-goal outing in the Reds' thrilling come-from-behind 3-2 win at Southampton at the weekend, Salah hinted that he has one foot out of the club. With his contract running out in the summer, no extension has been agreed by both parties yet.
Salah's latest statement has alerted the Blaugrana. As per Gol (via Barca Blaugranes), Hansi Flick's side are looking to renew their interest in the Egyptian when he potentially becomes available for free in the summer. However, some in the Barca camp believe Salah's arrival could impede Lamine Yamal's development.
Nevertheless, Barcelona face competition from Saudi Arabian sides for the services of the Egyptian. Meanwhile, the Reds are also expected to provide their star a renewed offer in a bid to keep him for a whle.
"I'm probably more out than in" - Barcelona target Mohamed Salah on his situation at Liverpool
Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah offered a sneak peek of his mindset as his Anfield contract winds down, with a renewal not in imminent sight for the bonafide Reds legend.
Salah has amassed an impressive 223 goals and 99 assists in 367 appearances for the Reds since arriving from AS Roma seven years ago. He's fifth in the Reds' all-time scoring charts, trailing fourth-placed Bily Liddell by five goals.
Meanwhile, admitting his frustration about his contract situation, Salah said after the win at Southampton (as per the BBC):
"We are almost in December, and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club. I'm probably more out than in."
"I'm not going to retire soon, so I'm just playing, focusing on the season, and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I'm disappointed, but we will see."
As things stand, the Barcelona target will be free to strike up a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club in January ahead of a potential free transfer in the summer.
