According to the Metro, Fulham are eyeing an ambitious swoop for Manchester United outcast Nani, this winter, as they look to replace Bryan Ruiz who is close to leaving Craven Cottage.

The midfielder has been out of favour this season under new manager David Moyes, and is destined to leave the club as the Scot prepares a complete overhaul of the current squad. The winger has played only 8 matches in the league so far, fuelling speculation of a possible departure.

The 27-year old has been heavily linked with a return to Sporting Lisbon, where he made his name in the early years of his potential filled career.

Relegation fighting Fulham are in the deep end after losing to fellow strugglers Sunderland last week. Manager Rene Muelensteen, who has been a coach at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson, is desperately hoping to lure Nani to Craven Cottage as he tries to attempt a rescue operation.

The club hierarchy will have to work overtime if they are to tempt the talented winger into choosing an unattractive Fulham over a move abroad.
