Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. The 20-year-old has been with Palace since arriving from Blackburn Rovers in February.

In 20 games across competitions, Wharton has contributed four assists, including three assists in 16 outings in the Premier League last season, where Palace finished tenth.

However, the Eagles have struggled this campaign, as they are one of six sides in the top flight who are winless after three games, losing twice. There has been interest in Wharton - who's contracted to Selhurst Park till 2029.

As per Daily Mail's Chief Football Reporter Sami Mokbel (via The Anfield Talk), the Reds are one of several sides 'tracking' Wharton's progress, with a move likely next summer.

Interestingly, the Reds were one of the quietest Premier League clubs this summer, with their incomings including attacker Federico Chiesa and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamadarshvili, who's set to arrive next summer.

Nevertheless, Slot's side have started the new season well, winning their opening three games without conceding, doing so for the third time in the Premier League era. They're second in the standings, behind defending four-time champions Manchester City on goal difference.

Manchester United have had a torrid start to the season, losing three of their last four games across competitons, including the last two. Following a last-gasp 2-1 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion, they fell to a heavy 3-0 defeat at home to arch-rivals Liverpool in the Premier League.

Experienced midfielder Casemiro was at fault for the game's first two goals, squandering possession in midfield, with Luis Diaz punishing the hosts. Mohamed Salah rounded off the scoring early in the second period.

Following the resounding setback, Ten Hag chose not to dwell on any positives as he said (as per the BBC):

"I don’t want to talk about positives today,. This defeat hurts for us and our fans. It is the third game of the season. I have had to explain this so many times. We have to build a new team. We will be fine, but it is clear we have to improve."

However, expressing optimism for a turnaround in fortunes, the Dutchman added:

"At the end of the season, I am quite confident we will have a big chance to lift another trophy."

The Red Devils return to action with a Premier League trip to Southampton on September 14, while Liverpool host Nottingham Forest on the same day.
