Rumour: Liverpool poised for record £82 million Suarez bid from Real Madrid

Luis Suarez: Headline-maker even in the offseason

Liverpool are preparing themselves for a record bid from Real Madrid this summer for Luis Suarez, after it emerged that the Uruguayan has a £82 million release clause in his contract, according to the Daily Mail.

Suarez only signed a new deal in December to remove the £40million release clause that caused so much controversy last summer as Arsenal matched it, but found Liverpool still unwilling to discuss any potential transfer to their Premier League rivals.

Wayne Rooney talked up Suarez’ credentials after a stunning season in front of goal that saw him scoop the individual awards and his form has not gone unnoticed on the continent either, with Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and possibly Barcelona weighing up summer bids to bring him to La Primera.

Real Madrid are eager to add a star forward to their ranks to compliment Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, with Karim Benzema yet to truly impress at Santiago Bernabeu and Suarez has now overtaken Sergio Aguero as their main target after Manchester City made it clear that they have no intention of selling the Argentine striker.

Liverpool will resist any transfer talk about Suarez as they are loath to lose their star man, but with Suarez believed to harbour dreams of playing for Real Madrid, their hand could be forced should Carlo Ancelotti’s men offer the release clause in his contract, while Barcelona could also rival them should Liverpool agree to let him go.
