Liverpool have reportedly made their first contact with Porto over the potential signing of Juan Manuel Iturbe in the summer.

Iturbe has spent the season on-loan with Hellas Verona in Italy and has starred as they have become the surprise package in Serie A, with Verona currently sitting in seventh position.

Iturbe’s performances have attracted a lot of attention from around Europe and Liverpool have made the first move after scouting him for a number of months, alongside Chelsea.

Brendan Rodgers has been impressed with the Argentine’s form for the Italian side and Liverpool have now spoken to Porto about the possibility of taking him on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

The Portuguese club are believed to be willing to offload the forward after he failed to settle in the SuperLiga during his time at the club and may well utilise his starring role for Hellas to inflate his fee.

Iturbe’s agents have been notified by the interest from the Premier League, but his form in Italy has not gone unnoticed there either, with Juventus, Roma and Inter Milan also showing a keen interest in the 20-year-old.

Juan Iturbe has completed 62 take-ons this season for Hellas Verona. Only Luis Suarez (64) has completed more for Liverpool this season.
