Liverpool sent a scout to watch Real Sociedad star and Arsenal target Antoine Griezmann, according to report in the Daily Star.

Man United and Arsenal have been linked with Griezmann this season but reports in Spain Liverpool have been sent out to scout the Frenchman, who was picked in France’s World Cup squad for the upcoming tournament.

Griezmann has been one of the standout performers in La Liga this year and has attracted a lot of attention from big clubs around Europe. He looks set to finally move on from Sociedad this summer with a huge transfer fee rumoured.

The 23-year-old has scored 20 goals in 48 appearances this season, helping the club to sixth in the league.

Griezmann can play anywhere across the front three, preferring the left-wing role but is certainly capable on the right or through the middle.

And his rise to prominence over the last year has seen him be part of the reason Manchester City’s Samir Nasri has been left out of France’s World Cup squad.

Liverpool’s surprise success this season has forced them to re-evaluate their transfer targets as they plan for another title challenge as well as trying to cope with their return to Champions League football next season.

Griezmann is contracted with Sociedad until 2016 and is thought to have a buy out clause of £26 million.
