Luis Alberto has find it hard to break into the playing XI at Anfield

Luis Alberto’s stint on Merseyside looks like it could be over already according to the Daily Mail, with the Spanish youngster looking set to leave Liverpool in a loan deal to return to his homeland, with Malaga set to snap him up on a season-long deal.

Alberto only signed for the club last summer in a £7million deal from Sevilla, but failed to make much impact in his debut season at Anfield and with Liverpool currently considering a number of attacking midfield alternatives in the summer.

Adam Lallana is thought to be a serious target for Liverpool if they can convince Southampton to drop their £30m price-tag, while Alexis Sanchez is another thought to be high on Brendan Rodgers’ wishlist as he prepares to build a squad capable of launch challenges in both the Premier League and Champions League.

Rickie Lambert has already been secured to bolster the squad ahead of their foray into Europe’s premier competition, while Alberto Moreno is thought to be close to following him and Emre Can remains a major traget as well.

Alberto could be a casualty of that activity after barely featuring for Liverpool in their season, while disciplinary problems off the pitch have made his task even harder, having been given a driving ban after pleading guilty to drink driving.

Liverpool are believed to want to monitor his progress in Spain after seeing Suso enjoy a successful spell on loan with Almeria and they are hoping Alberto can salvage his flagging potential with a year with Malaga.
