Rumour: Manchester United eyeing PSV Eindhoven’s Santiago Arias

Arias

Manchester United are looking into signing PSV Eindhoven’s young defensive star, Santiago Arias, in the summer, according to the Daily Star.

Arias, 22, is thought to command a fee of around £8 million. It would make him a much cheaper – and younger – alternative to Everton’s Seamus Coleman who has attracted a lot of interest in recent months after a stunning season.

Arias joined PSV from Sporting Lisbon in Portugal and United scouts have been monitoring his progress since. He’s caught the eye of the Premier League champions with his pace and is expected to be in the Colombia squad at this summer’s World Cup.

Arias is also a target for Italian giants Inter so Moyes will have some competition, especially if Arias impresses in Brazil in the summer.

Moyes also wants Southampton left-back Luke Shaw, who is in the England squad this week to play Denmark at Wembley. The 18-year-old has been fantastic since the Saints gained promotion to the Premier League and will almost definitely be leaving the club in the near future.

His other targets include Porto centre-half Eliaquim Mangala and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
