Rumour: Marco Reus, Luke Shaw and Toni Kroos top Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United transfer wish list
Louis van Gaal is set to become Manchester United manager and has pinpointed three players he’d like to sign straight away, according to the Daily Express.
Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus, Southampton’s Luke Shaw and Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos are all at the very top of his transfer wish list this summer.
David Moyes was sacked recently and was also thought to be targeting these three players specifically, but it is now reported that van Gaal wants them to bolster his squad ahead of next season, where he must push to get Man United back into the top four.
Man Utd have had a miserable season and the problems with the squad were clearly evident in big defeats to rivals throughout the season. Teams like Fulham, Newcastle, Sunderland and West Brom have all taken points at Old Trafford so it is a big job for van Gaal, should he take the job, as reported.
All three players have had superb seasons for their clubs, meaning that funds spent on the trio will top £100 million. The cheapest of the three is probably Shaw who will be available for around £30m. Prices of around £40m have been rumoured for Kroos and Reus, who has been in sparkling form in the Bundesliga.
Marco Reus has been directly involved in 29 goals in the Bundesliga this season; 16 goals, 13 assists.
