If things couldn’t get any worse after the 5-1 thrashing by Liverpool, Arsenal have been dealt with another huge blow. Rumours are that Bacary Sagna and Lukasz Fabianski have rejected new deals at the club, leaving Arsene Wenger in further despair.

Big clubs, including title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City and keen on signing Sagna on a free, and chances of him leaving are quite likely.

Poland international Fabianski, 28, revealed yesterday he no longer wants to play second fiddle to international team-mate Wojciech Szczesny at The Emirates.

Fabianski – who has been capped 21 times – said: “I want to be No.1 in the club and in the Polish national team. I have learned a lot at London during very positive and challenging periods.

“With biggest respect to this great club, I didn’t accept the extension offer as I am looking forward to a new challenge in England or abroad.”

Sagna is reportedly upset that Arsene Wenger did not approach him sooner about a new deal, leaving talks until his final year at the club. Wenger has changed his rule for Sagna having previous only offered a one-year contract to his over 30s.

The deal on the table for Sagna – who turns 31 on Friday – is two years, but still at his current salary of £60,000 a week.

But Sagna feels he deserves much more, especially as he has not had a single pay rise since signing an improved deal in the summer of 2008.

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Galatasaray are keen on the defender, who has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers this season.
