According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy will not allow Schalke target Lewis Holtby to leave the club, as that would pave the way for the transfer of Julian Draxler to arch rivals Arsenal, who are inching ever closer in their attempt to land the rising star.

The Gunners are said to be front runners for the Bundesliga and Schalke sensation Julian Draxler, provided, the German outfit are able to fill the imminent void in the center of the park, with reports suggesting that Lewis Holtby is their first choice replacement.

Lewis Holtby joined the Spurs from Schalke only last winter, however, has failed to settle in. He has been in and out of the side, failing to establish himself in the starting line up. With a host of big money signings coming in this summer, chances for the talented German international look few and far between.

However, Tottenham Hotspur’s attempt to disappoint their North London counter parts might prove to be academic if Arsene Wenger and the management decide to trigger Draxler’s release clause, which looks increasingly likely.
