Rio Ferdinand has confirmed that he has every intention to continue his playing career beyond the end of this season with LA Galaxy, Al Gharafa, Qatar, Besiktas and Galatasaray all vying for his services, according to the Guardian.

Ferdinand’s contract at United expires at the end of the season and with injuries having dogged his campaign, it is expected thatthe Red Devils will cut their losses with the former England defender and release him on a free transfer.

Retirement has been suggested for Ferdinand in some quarters as fitness continues to be an issue, while others have suggested he will leave the Premier League to wind down his playing career, with moves to the United States and the Middle East believed to be potential destinations.

Ferdinand has however confirmed that retirement is not on the agenda just yet and he wishes to keep his career going for now, with his preference to be awarded a new deal to remain at Old Trafford.

Ferdinand told reporters, “I’m going to continue playing.

“Whether it’s here, I don’t know. But I hope so.”

LA Galaxy are reported to be a potential destination should Ferdinand opt for a move to the MLS in the summer, while Al Gharafa are hoping to take him to Qatar and Besiktas and Galatasaray from Turkey also hold an interest.
