Russia, Serbia play out 1-1 draw in Euro warm-up match

Monaco, June 6 (IANS) Russia played out a 1-1 draw with Serbia in a friendly football match as part of preparations for the Euro 2016.

Russia's Artem Dzyuba shot a goal in 85th minute and Serbia's Aleksandar Mitrovic scored in the 88th minute at the Louis II stadium here on Sunday. Russia's halfback Igor Denisov was replaced by Denis Glushakov in the 50th minute due to an injury, reports Tass.

It was Dzyuba's ninth goal for the national team in his 18 matches.

On Wednesday, the Russians lost their first friendly against Czech Republic (1-2) held in Innsbruck, Austria.

After the match against the Serbs, the Russian football team will head for Croissy-sur-Seine, a Paris suburb, where it will continue training for the UEFA EURO-2016. The Russians will stay in a hotel in the town of Rueil-Malmaison.

The 2016 UEFA Euro Cup will be held in France between June 10 and July 10 with matches to be played in 10 different locations, namely in Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.

A total of 24 European national teams qualified for the Euro Cup final tournament in 2016, after the contestants' format, which was used since 1996, was decided to be extended from 16 to 24 teams.

The contesting teams were divided into six groups and Russia was placed into Group B, sharing it with the teams from England, Wales and Slovakia. The Russian football team will play three matches in the Euro-2016 group stage: vs. the team of England in Marseille June 11; vs. Slovakia in Lille on June 15 and vs. Wales in Toulouse on June 20.
