ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA – MARCH 25: Vladimir Bystrov (L) of FC Zenit St. Petersburg vies for the ball with Pyotr Nemov of FC Rubin Kazan during the Russian Football League Championship match between FC Zenit St. Petersburg and FC Rubin Kazan at the Petrovsky Stadium on March 25, 2012 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Krasnodar (Russia), Nov 14 – Russia midfielder Vladimir Bystrov has failed to shake off a thigh injury and will miss the friendly soccer match with the United States, coach Fabio Capello said.

The Zenit St. Petersburg winger pulled up in training Tuesday after the injury he suffered in Sunday’s 2-1 win over FC Volga proved too painful.

“He’s returning to St. Petersburg soon,” Capello said.

Bystrov is the fourth player to pull out of Capello’s squad after ex-Everton midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Viktor Faizulin and Lokomotiv Moscow’s Alexander Samedov also withdrew because of injury.

The Italian picked a youthful 26-man squad including Real Madrid’s Denis Cheryshev and Anzhi striker Fyodor Smolov for the match in the southern city of Krasnodar.

US coach Jurgen Klinsmann recalled striker Jozy Altidore and also picked several youngsters in a 20-man squad.
