Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler: I turned down Arsenal move in January

Julian Draxler has said that he will stay at Schalke for one more season

Schalke o4 midfielder Julian Draxler said that he had turned down an offer to play for English Premier league club Arsenal as he wants to play one more season for the Bundesliga team.

According to Draxler, Arsenal had made a move for him during the month of January, a move which the German midfielder promptly refused.

"In January there was the offer of Arsenal, but I decided to stay.”

“I will do the same this summer. I want to play one year more in Schalke" said Draxler.

Draxler’s whose contract reportedly contains a £38m buyback clause recently signed a five-year deal with Schalke 04.

The young midfielder has been impressive for Schalke and has scored 15 goals in more than 100 appearances for his club.

Draxler is currently away on international duty in Brazil representing Germany at the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup. The 20-year-old midfielder was an unused substitute during Germany’s drubbing of Portugal where the three times champions won 4-0.
