The second semi final will see an all european affair. Will it be a second footballing lesson by the germans after they taught argentina a thing or two about football or will the spanish tiki taka sweep the germans off their feet ?
Germans will have to bear the loss of muller and will need cacau/trochowski to fill his shoes .They will line up like they did last time against the Argentinians .A 4-5-1 formation that will see klose as the poacher. Meanwhile the five man midfield will be always pushing to support him, Ozil will be free in the midfelid and will be vested with the duty to create goal scoring oppurtunity.
Podoloski and cacau/trochowski will be looking to join klose in the penaly box whereas khedira and schweinsteiger will be deputizing the midfield going Box to Box ….this is the best thing about the young german squad …they dont just hold back …they like to push players forward whether it may be schweinsteiger or khedira. These are not defensive midfielders but simply midfielders who don’t leave an oppurtunity to attack when required and are well supported by the full backs particularly captain Lahm .
Spain on the other hand will be desperately wanting that their star striker torres come and join the party with David Villa….coach Del Bosque has a big decision to make whether to play two upfront or replace out of action torres with another midfielder so as to counter the German midfield. He will perhaps give torres a start once again and see if works out or not . Meanwhile the midfield will be the same with a strong catalan contention …Busquets will be the sweeper in front of the back four whereas Alonso will go Box to box, trying to affect the game. Sergio Ramos will fill the void on th right side with Iniesta moving inside with Xavi. Villa will again start on the left side and try to cut inside the penaty area.
The game will be won and lost in the midfield. It will be particularly interesting to see how the spanish midfield counters young german midfield that has an habit of not sitting back. The extra work would need to be put in by the likes of Xavi and Iniesta who will have to track back and see off the danger that Schweinsteiger and Khedira can cause with their runs.
