Sep 1, 2001 : A night to remember for England Football Team

Recently England thrashed San Marino 8-0 in the World Cup qualifiers . It was a great performance from the national team. But their best ever performance came in September 1, 2001 against one of the best teams in National Football , Germany. It is a night that no English player will ever forget.

There have been many unforgettable clashes between those two old Rivals, GERMANY and ENGLAND . But the World Cup qualifying match held on September 1, 2001 at Munich was the most exciting matches ever played between the two Nations. It also marked England’s finest performance away from home.

Germany took the lead within six minutes through Carsten Jancker who tapped the ball past the England goalkeeper David Seaman from a Oliver Neuville cross. But the real game was about to start . Germany was torn apart by an England team playing slick football . England roared back in menacing fashion . Before half time approached the German’s who took the lead in the early minutes were 2-1 down, Michael Owen equalized and a splendid strike from Steven Gerrard rattled the scoreline.

But they were not finished yet . It got even better in the second half ,with Owen finding the back of the net twice to complete his famous hat trick . Emile Heskey then added a fifth to stun the home crowd in Munich .England had sealed a thumping win , destroying Germany 5- 1 . It was certainly a night to remember for the English Team……………
