The surprise twist in the David De Gea to Real Madrid negotiations has now grown into a substantial saga on its own. The Guardian reported the Galacticos vice-captain Sergio Ramos informed the club that he would like a move to Manchester United once the English club registered a bid for the player.

Sky Sports added to the reports saying the player is pressing for a move to Manchester United alone and does not want to go elsewhere though other clubs appear to be interested in the 29-year old’s services as well.

While Manchester United are believed to have made a previous offer, the current bid reportedly amounted to £28.5 million.

The Spanish defender is among the fan favourites at the Real and the Madridista will be disappointed if he leaves. Nonetheless, the player is seemingly determined to push a move to the Red Devils as he is rumoured to be disappointed with the internal contract negotiations. Particularly on the delay in negotiating his contract as compared to that of other players who’ve been offered new deals.

Spanish football expert Graham Hunter told Sky Sports that there seems to be a rift in communication between Los Blancos top man Florentino Perez and Ramos. The player is not pleased that the club did not respond to reports in the media linking him with arch-rivals Barcelona.

The defender joined Real Madrid from Sevilla in 2005 and in the decade that has passed since, he accumulated 314 appearances for the club and cementing his place in the Galactico’s defence. Primarily having gained fame for his defensive qualities, he is not goal shy collecting 40 goals along the way which is a decent return for any defender.

Ramos also has 128 caps for Spain’s senior national squad. he played important roles in their 2010 World Cup and both Euro Cup triumphs.
