Shakhtar Donetsk won their eight Ukrainian Premier League title after their draw 1-1 to Metallist Kharkov, four rounds before the end of the 2012-13 season.
Their closest challengers, Dynamo Kiev and Mettallist Kharkov, are now 15 points behind with just 12 points left to fight for, Xinhua reports.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych congratulated Shakhtar’s management, players, coaches and supporters with their triumph Sunday night.
“This season you have demonstrated your best qualities and an excellent team play. I hope that the progress of the club will ensure further significant achievements in international arena,” Yanukovych said in his congratulatory message.
Shakhtar secured the Ukrainian Premier League title for the fourth year in a row.
