Shinji Kagawa has voiced his irritation at the way his Manchester United career has gone, having failed to make the impact he would have liked to in the Premier League.

Kagawa has found himself on the fringes of David Moyes’ new-look Manchester United side, making just nine league appearances this season for the Red Devils.

And after failing to find any consistency last season as well, Kagawa has revealed his frustration at not having made the mark he wanted having impressed at Borussia Dortmund prior to his move.

Kagawa told reporters, “I still haven’t scored any goals this season, so I’ve felt very irritated. This is the first time in my career that I haven’t been able to produce, so it’s disappointing.

“I pressure myself to score in every game, but some days it feels like I just can’t win. I know I have to overcome that, because if I can’t it shows that I haven’t grown as a player. So because of that I have to focus on the second half of the season and overcome that mental block.”

As well as improving in the Premier League the Japanese midfielder also hopes that United can enjoy a fruitful Champions League campaign, after seeing his former teammates at Dortmund go all the way to the final while United crashed out to Real Madrid in the first knockout round.

Kagawa is hoping for an improved showing this season, starting with the last 16 tie against Olympiakos, saying, “Last year we lost to Real Madrid so this time we want to beat Olympiakos and reach the quarter-finals.

“Of course our goal is to reach the final and win the whole championship. The whole world watches the Champions’ League and it’s the top club competition in the world.

“Last year Dortmund made it to the final and I got to watch my former teammates play there, so this time I want to have better memories of the competition. I’d like to play Dortmund or Barcelona. I’d like to play against Messi or Iniesta.”
