Kagawa was phenomenal for United against Bayer Leverkusen

Manchester United ran riot in Germany last night against a hapless Bayer Leverkusen. Every player in the team performed their roles perfectly which was one of the reasons why they won 5-0 against Sami Hyypia’s team. The Japanese ace , who was named United’s Man Of the Match against Bayer, was a standout player and showed just why he was an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Borussia Dortmund. Kagawa is yet to find the back of the net for United this season, which is no surprise due to him frequently playing outside his comfort zone by David Moyes. Manchester United need not look out for a new midfielder next summer because Kagawa has everything it takes to be a brilliant playmaker.

The 24-year-old is used to operating in the hole behind the striker and is a specialist in distributing the ball while still outside the box. Kagawa is also one of the most technically gifted players in the world and will certainly give stiff competition to Arsenal‘s Mesut Ozil once he is given a chance. The midfielder made a nuisance of himself against Leverkusen last night and was involved in Antonio Valencia’s opener. Kagawa caused havoc in the opposition box which led to Valencia ghosting into the penalty area and scoring the opening goal. The injuries to Marouane Fellani, Michael Carrick and Robin van Persie were a blessing as Kagawa showed just what he could do once given the chance.

David Moyes should opt for the 3-5-2 formation in order to accommodate the midfielder. Former manager Sir Alex Ferguson played with the 3-5-2 formation if the final game of last season against West Brom and Kagawa was a delight to watch in the game. The Japanese playmaker was a constant threat to the Baggies and managed to score a sublime header, which was one of the reasons why he won the Man of the Match that day.

The season is far from over and Moyes will certainly have a selection headache for the upcoming games. Should Kagawa play in his preferred position in the tricky game against Tottenham? The attacker will surely cause problems for Andre Villas Boas’s men, who are not having a spectacular season so far. December is a difficult month for United, who are up against Everton and Newcastle United and must come out with victories in both of those games if they want to displace Arsenal from the top of the Premier League.

Moyes will certainly give Kagawa more time in his favoured position, now that he has seen what he is capable of when he is in form. Manchester United should get rid of deadwood in the form of players like Anderson and Ashley Young in order to give deserving players like Shinji Kagawa a chance to excel. The Japan international has an amazing work ethic which is certain to please his manager. David Moyes and his Red Devils face a long road ahead and Shinji Kagawa is sure to put his best boot forward, every step of the way.
