Spanish club troll Real Madrid after they field an ineligible player

Denis Cheryshev was the player who was not supposed to play against Cadiz

As it stands, things are not very transparent for Real Madrid and their future in the Copa del Rey this season with the danger of being kicked out of the domestic competition for fielding an ineligible player in their squad in their 3-1 win over third tier team Cadiz at the Ramón de Carranza.

24-year old Denis Cheryshev started and scored in the game for the Spanish giants despite a ban hanging over his head which he picked up for being issued three yellow cards last season in the Copa del Rey when he was away on loan at fellow Liga club Villareal.

Since then, Cadiz have reported the infringement to the Spanish Football Federation followed by a unanimous decision taken by the club’s board members.

"Once again, Cadiz would like to express their utmost respect for Real Madrid and everyone associated with the club. There will be no further statements until the Competition Committee make an official statement on the matter,” read their statement.

However, in his press conference on Thursday, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez announced that none of the involved parties were notified about Cheryshev’s suspension and hence the suspension would not stand.

“Fielding Cheryshev yesterday in Cadiz, means the following: Neither the player nor the club had been warned, which we do not consider effective. Based on article 41.2 of the RFEF rulebook, we do not consider the sanction effective,” he stated.

“We have no precedent for something like what happened yesterday. Whenever a player has come with a sanction he knew about it. If he had been notified, he would not have played. We have the obligation to defend what we believe is our right. Neither the player, the Federation, or Villarreal informed us, it is impossible for us to know about it.”

Spanish third-tier side mocks Real Madrid with a very witty clip

As if a tweet from Barcelona defender Gerard Pique wasn't enough, Real Madrid are not mocked by Spanish third-division club Merida AD who will be facing Cadiz next in the Segunda B division.

They have released a short video featuring one of their player tied up who is supposed to be suspended for the next match. He is tied up in the video with the club taking all the necessary precautions so as to not make the same mistake Real Madrid did.
