Tottenham Hotspur are considering Jose Mourinho as a candidate for the head coach position

In a statement released by Tottenham Hotspur today, the club has sacked Mauricio Pochettino as the head coach of the team.

The Argentine coach was appointed at the club in 2014 and had five years of success with the club. Out of his five seasons in charge, the manager led Spurs to the Champions League four times. Last season, the North London club reached the competition's final for the first time.

However, a rocky start to the season has led Daniel Levy to sack Pochettino, which changes the dynamics of the club.

Mourinho a strong candidate for the manager's position

According to Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are considering appointing Jose Mourinho as the new manager of the club. Mourinho himself is open to talks, and club chairman Daniel Levy will have the final decision in his hands.

If the former Real Madrid and Manchester United manager is to join Spurs, then the landscape of the Premier League could change significantly. Currently, the London club sits 14th on the Premier League table but has a talented squad capable of much more. It remains to be seen how talks advance between Mourinho and Levy, and if this scenario can come to life.
