Stand by United, stand by the Club

Manchester United v West Bromwich Albion - Premier League 182101421

Few things in life are religious. They are just incomparable. Manchester United for me is beyond being religious. Cut me open and I will bleed red, I will bleed United. Following them serves life’s purpose for me. Supporting and cheering for them completes me. This is not about me; this is about the millions of fans worldwide who bleed United. The millions of fans who adjust their body clocks to follow United, whenever they take to the pitch. The million who stand behind the team, no matter what happens, no matter whom or what comes your way.

For almost a quarter of a century, the Barclays Premier League had a familiar sight to watch. The Red Devils standing on the podium after every season to lift some silverware. There was a time, when the seas were quiet and the ship was steady. There were perils, but the captain steered them clear of any danger. No matter how the journey began, the Red Devils used to reach home safe and sound. But alas, nothing lasts forever.

The new season in the Barclays Premier League saw all that change. The seas that Manchester United had tamed for all these years had begun to take its vengeance. The waters are becoming turbulent. A storm is coming. The captain at the helm of the ship is experienced but somewhat new to crew aboard. The ship is not steady but precariously perched on the waters. It is in these times that the captain needs the confidence of his crew. The captain needs to know that the people on the shores are desperately waiting for him to steer the ship to safety. It’s upon the fans now to decide the fate of the ship. Whether to abandon it like the “Titanic” or make sure it always sails like “The Black Pearl”.

Manchester United is all about winning trophies, all about laurels, all about fame, all about history and all about traditions. Whether there was an old rival in Liverpool, the invincibles of Arsene Wenger, a newly acquired Chelsea or the money minted Manchester City. We have seen off threats from all our rivals. Clubs have stood and challenged us, but United have always survived. United have always dominated their rivals. United have always come back stronger.

The man at the helm maybe new, but he needs to know that people are waiting for him ashore. It does not matter who the man at the helm is, who the crew is. All that should matter is the ship. Players come and leave, but the club remains still. Nobody is bigger than the club. It’s time for the fans to stand by the club. It’s time for the fans to see Manchester United rise up from the ashes. It’s time for the fans to be patient. It’s time to get behind the club. It’s the time to show how much it means to you to be a Red Devil.

Stand with the club. Love the club. Make it even stronger for it needs you more than ever. #GGMU
