It’s all about the money… At least for the owners of Kansas City Wizards.
Sunil Chhetri’s move to the KC Wizard has been making a lot of news lately. Surely one of the happiest people about this is Greg Cotton, who is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of On Goal which owns the club KCW. Signing of Sunil would give his team a fan following in tens of millions. Here’s what Greg had to say in the press conference:
“We (KC Wizards) are more than a soccer team, we are entrepreneurial and very innovative in the way we scout and train players, the way we conduct our business operations, business intelligence, the way we look at foreign markets for inspiration and investments. That way we can take our partners (Sponsors) from a local market to a World market. That is a big part of our business strategy. The signing of Sunil fits in beautifully with our goal which is wining and also, some of our additional values of entrepreneurial expansion of our business.”
The news of Sunil being published on every Indian newspaper and sports website has already given the club a lot of mileage so far and this is just the beginning. From having absolutely no identity in India a few months back, the club now, is one of the most talked about topic in our nation’s sport’s scene.
Even the manager and head coach Peter Vermes knows what his boss loves the most. At the conference he added, “Sunil comes from a country with a population of a billion people and hopefully the people will become the fans of the KC Wizards.”
