Sweden and Algeria return to action when they go head-to-head at Friends Arena in a friendly matchup on Tuesday. Vladimir Petkovic’s men head into the midweek clash on a run of five back-to-back victories and will be looking to extend this impressive streak.
Sweden secured a 2-0 victory over Hungary in their friendly clash at the Puskas Arena on Friday courtesy of second-half goals from Benjamin Nygren and Yasin Ayari.
Before that, Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on March 22 when they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Luxembourg, three days before bouncing back in an emphatic 5-1 victory over Northern Ireland.
Sweden will look to keep the ball rolling on Tuesday as they gather momentum ahead of their return to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.
Meanwhile, Youcef Belaili and Jaouen Hadjam scored in either half to fire Algeria to a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in a friendly at the Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui last Thursday.
Petkovic’s men have now won five games on the trot and are unbeaten in their last 11 outings across all competitions, claiming 10 wins and one draw since a 2-1 loss against Guinea in June 2024.
This fine run of results has put Algeria in pole position for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they lead the way in Group G of the qualifiers with 15 points from six games, three points above second-placed Mozambique.
