Moscow, Sep 1 (IANS) The Russian Paralympic Committee's (RPC) appeal against suspension of membership from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will be considered in Switzerland's federal court within 6-7 months.

"The RPC's main appeal will be considered in the federal court of Switzerland within 6-7 months. It depends on this decision whether the Russian Paralympians will be able to take part in other international competitions, in particular, the 2018 Paralympic Games," the RPC said in a statement on Wednesday, reports Tass.

The Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland has ruled against Russia's appeal on the suspension of national para-athletes from the 2016 Rio Paralympics to be held in Brazil from September 7 to 18, according to a statement from the court.

Artyom Patsev, a Russian sports lawyer, has said on the court's decision that is was predictable and it was senseless for Russia to file an appeal.

"It was immediately clear that they would reject the appeal, which was senseless," Patsev said on Wednesday.

"I said it earlier that it was all very predictable."
