Joining from Werder Bremen, the player had been impressive in the play making role for the club and Germany and it came as no surprise that Real Madrid signed him up soon.
The player spent three years at the club and was part of the side that won La Liga, Copa Del Rey and the Super Cup and enjoyed a fairly successful time at the club.
