Neymar-Dilemma beckons!

Remember the two felines and a monkey story from our childhood. Well, it seems to spring up again and again whenever clubs and player agents battle it out for a stranglehold on their enfant terrible. The latest addition to the Fabregas(summer) transfer window is of the peacock-haired Brazilian teen sensation, Neymar. Well, every time I hear teen sensation, I dread to hear Bieber’s name, but thankfully sanity prevails in football, still.

With an impressive haul of 35 goals and 11 assists, the 19-year old expected suitors from all corners, but the prospect of playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid is a pot too hot to handle for his agent and his current club, Santos, supposedly. It seems that the stakeholders involved are enjoying their sultry summers in the limelight and are brandishing daggers at everyone else caring to venture near their prized asset. Comically enough, Neymar’s opinion has been disposed off like nuke waste.

Neymar, one of the hottest properties in the summer transfer market, declared earlier this month that his preference would be to join Real Madrid. But here’s what his agent, Wagner Ribeiro has to say:

“Barcelona are the more attractive option for his current club.

Barcelona want him next year and will pay next year, Madrid want him now and are prepared to pay now.

The main problem is that the kid (Neymar) wants to play in the Club World Cup against Barcelona, and Santos are using their force to make him choose Barca.

The numbers being talked about by both clubs (Madrid and Barcelona) are good, but Neymar would prefer a move to Madrid.”

That coming from a man who was up against Barcelona like a Slytherin graduate facing the bespectacled Potter, not more than a week ago.

“I don’t like what they [Barcelona] did. They talked to the player when he was with Brazil’s national side and contacted his father.

“From the moment that Santos gave both clubs [Barcelona and Real Madrid] permission to open talks, they should have contacted me instead of the player himself.

“I am in favour of negotiating with Real Madrid. If I had to choose between both sides, I’d go for Real Madrid.”

Way to go, agent! Certainly, Neymar didn’t pay you for your fickle-mindedness. Maybe a few more quids and you would be packing your bags for the city of Manchester. But sadly, that’s not enough!

Santos President, Oliveira Ribeiro wanted a fair share of the pie as well.

“I asked Sandro(Barca Prez) not to make contact with Neymar or his father before the Copa Libertadores final, but then I had to tell him to make his move because the other European clubs were already moving,” he said. “Sandro is a gentleman, very friendly, a great professional and a great president.

“I spoke to Florentino directly and Real Madrid expressed an interest in the player. That’s public.”

What’s not public Mr. President are your secret intentions of shipping Neymar off to your pals at Camp Nou. Listen to the kid for once, it’s his career you uber morons. But sadly, that’s the state of football today.

Well, we will see soon enough where the dice settles. Till then pray for solace for the wonderkid from Brazil. Amen!
