The resurgence of Cristiano Ronaldo: Real Madrid forward doubles down

Valencia v Real Madrid - La Liga
Valencia v Real Madrid - La Liga (January 28)

January 28, 2018: La legend made his way onto the pitch composed, though mired with doubts of his fluctuating form and hopeful of reinventing himself and building on his form from the last match.

The ghost of Ronaldo radiates in the ambience of time at the Mestalla; the fans keep their fingers crossed, hoping for their star man to grace the field and build upon his rediscovered form against Deportivo La Coruna. Real Madrid faces a daunting task and gripped with pressure to close the gap on Valencia.

The game kicked off and things looked bleak for CR7, he hustled and toiled on the pitch as possession between both teams were even. Los Che kept the tempo up as Real Madrid tussled to gain control of the game.

Wala! the golden opportunity came when Los Blancos countered Valencia after a corner at the opposite end was intercepted and Ronaldo lead a vital counter; pacing with the ball through the gaping midfield as players ran to close him down but he marvelously squared the well-timed ball to Marcelo.

Marcelo then found Benzema who in turn found Ronaldo once again with a splendid pass. Ronaldo was ultimately clipped by Montoya in the penalty box and Ronaldo coolly slotted the penalty as many antagonist and critics were hoping he missed.

But the Real Madrid legend persisted as the game bore on, converting two spot kicks. However, glimpses of fatigue, inconsistency, and a decline in physical strength showed vividly.

That being said, I am keen that Ronaldo will assume a different role in the near future whilst adapting to the current phase. Now 33; the Portugal international seems to be nearing his peak.

Without a doubt, he is certain of this, albeit hoping to break the deadlock, utilizing his zenith years to influence his game plays and productivity, thus carving out a different style of play.

A legend in the making; a legend he is; one that will live on in the hearts of many when he hangs up his boot. It seems like yesterday when he first burst into the spotlight, now nearing his twilight years, CR7 is a legend fading into the ambiance of time.

Know this, he will be back and reinvented and will assuredly go out in style. Legends never really fade, their spirits transpire into to greatness. He is a precious memento to many; one who wears the iconic no.7 worn by the great Raul.
