The rise of Nuri Sahin?

Three minutes into their ‘Capital One’ cup tie at the Hawthorns, Liverpool were left trailing after George Tamas had scored past Liverpool keeper Brad Jones, courtesy a slip up by the Liverpool custodian.

It looked like the same old story for Brendan Rodgers’ side, which has started the season miserably (A 3-0 opening day loss to the same opposition!), until Nuri Sahin came to the rescue.

Sahin, on loan from Spanish giants, Real Madrid, equalised for Liverpool in the 17th minute, with a sweet left footer (and some luck too!), which went under ‘Baggies’ keeper Ben Foster.

Sahin, who put up a good show throughout the match, scored the winner in the 82nd minute, when he converted a Oussama Assaidi cross to score his second.

Sahin rescued Liverpool against West Brom on Wednesday with a brace

The win, which may have come as a huge relief for both Rodgers and the Anfield faithful, has seen Sahin rise as a potential star for Liverpool.

Though, the former Borussia Dortmund star is yet to produce more such performances in the Liverpool shirt, Wednesday’s performance showed Sahin has it in him to help Liverpool put together a miserable season back on track.

Liverpool are still without a win in the Premier League (2 draws and 3 losses), and are currently lying 18th, after its worst start in years.

Sahin is a great passer of the ball, and has good vision along with great tackling skills, and looks like a player in the Andrea Pirlo mould.

Coach Rodgers will be hoping Sahin helps Liverpool to their first Premier League win this season against Norwich

Wednesday’s win against West Brom was made even more important due to the fact that Liverpool were playing with a relatively inexperienced squad.

Though, Sahin has not come up with a similar display in the Premier League till now, Rodgers may definitely hope for Sahin to come up with more such performances in their upcoming Premier League matches.

And it may just be around the corner, when Liverpool take on Norwich next, at Carrow road.

If Sahin comes up with another superb performance, similar to the one against West Brom, then probably Rodgers and Liverpool will ‘Not Walk Alone’ for the remainder of the season!
