Mourinho has a negative reputation at the Emirates due to his harsh comments against the club before.

The 'Special One is known to use scalding words, especially when he has something to hold over your head. We witnessed a lot of that during Arsene Wenger's era when he embarrassed the Gunners at every opportunity.

Even the most forgiving people will find it hard to forget the sly digs Mou took at Arsenal. You might argue that most of these taunts were geared towards the former gaffer, but then, the man was a representative of the club, and any degrading words thrown at him were indirectly thrown at Arsenal.

Who could forget those times when Mourinho said, “Boring is 10 years without a title”? or when he said, “They (the Arsenal fans) like to cry. That’s tradition”? or when he said, “Maybe the pitch creates an amazing desire to go to the floor”? We could literally go on and on on the scathing words that Mou has thrown the Gunners way.

Having embarrassed the club for years, it would be really difficult for the Portuguese to get adequate support at the Emirates. In such an environment, there's no doubt it'd be tough to achieve success.

#3 Mourinho is on the decline

Jose Mourinho is simply a man resting on laurels at the moment. His reputation doesn't reflect his output in managerial terms right now. The Portuguese has been on a downward spiral for the past few years. He's been a mere shadow of the man who took Europe by storm and conquered English football in style.

Mourinho's recent return to the Premier League ended in embarrassment. The 56-year-old's last season at Manchester United exposed his failings. He was sent packing from Old Trafford after the Red Devils recorded their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign, claiming a paltry seven victories from 17 games in the English top flight.

He was also sacked at Chelsea following a mediocre outing during the 2015/2016 campaign and has barely had any impact in the Champions League since he claimed the European tournament with Inter Milan in 2010.
