Ticket Price for Argentina vs Venezuela Match in Kolkata to be Made Affordable
With the ticket price for the September 2 Argentina versus Venezuela match in Kolkata slated around Rs 1000 (the lowest), the West Bengal Govt. is mulling over a discussion with the organizers to reduce the ticket price to make it affordable for the common people.
West Bengal Sports Minister in a meeting with the organizers has requested them to reduce the minimum denomination of ticket price so that common people can witness messi and Co. in action.
“We are not the organizers so we cannot decide on that. Of course, to see Messi in action comes at a price, but Rs 1,000 is a little too high,” said the Sports Minister Madan Mitra.
The Govt. is also planning to introduce a dedicated family blocks where in families can watchthe match with tickets available at discounted rates.
“We are planning to introduce a family block in Yuba Bharati Krirangan from this match. With this a family can buy out tickets at a discounted price,” said Mitra.
The Sports Minister has also said that Doordarshan has been requested to telecast the match so that it reaches out to maximum viewers across the country after meeting with AIFF and IFA.
Asked about the renovation work of the artificial turf, which was deemed ‘unsuitable’ for such a high-profile match, Mitra said the work would begin soon.
“The agency which laid out the turf agreed to do it for free. They would smoothen the surface. The work will take about four weeks’ time, so it will be started accordingly.”
