Rio de Janeiro, March 7 (IANS): Mexican club Tijuana kept their unbeaten Copa Libertadores run intact with a 1-0 victory over defending champions Corinthians.

Argentine defender Javier Gandolfi struck the winner with a 64th-minute back-heel after a poor Fabio Santos goal-line clearance on the artificial turf at Tijuana’s Estadio Caliente Wednesday.

“The goal followed a set piece that we had planned during the week which makes it more satisfying,” Gandolfi said afterwards.

“We now have some tough tests away from home but we will go into the games with our confidence high.”

Tijuana leads Group 5 with three wins from as many matches while Corinthians are second despite managing just four points from their first three games.

In other results, Libertad drew 2-2 with Sporting Cristal, Tigre beat Palmeiras 1-0 while Fluminense were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Huachipato.
