The Premier League is reportedly considering implementing a new rule to curb time-wasting, which fans on social media believe could benefit Arsenal. According to Martyn Ziegler's report, the rule under consideration would award teams a corner if the opposition goalkeeper holds on to the ball for too long.
The Gunners are the most prolific team in the division from set pieces, having bagged 22 goals from corners since the start of the 2023/24 season. Fans on X (formerly Twitter), joked that the north London side would be at a huge advantage if the rule is implemented.

According to reports, goalkeepers will have eight seconds to release the ball before an opposition corner is awarded.
"They [Arsenal] are very good because they have a lot of time working on that [set-pieces]" - Manchester United head coach after loss to Gunners
Following his side's 2-0 loss to the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim discussed Arsenal's proficiency in dead ball situations. The north Londoners are famed for their efficiency from corners and are the most dangerous team in Europe from those opportunities.
Mikel Arteta's side found the back of the net two times in the second half through brilliantly executed corner kick routines to secure the win and hand Amorim his first loss with the Red Devils. Speaking to the press after the match, the Portuguese tactician said (via 90 mins):
"We already knew that it would be a tough game. I think the corners changed the game, the set-pieces. Then we lost the momentum, we tried everything then to control the game again. They are very good because they have a lot of time working on that [set-pieces]. Especially on that, they have big players for that, so it is a strategy, and we had two weeks to work on that. We tried to do it but we know every team in the Premier League is suffering with set-pieces."
Ruben Amorim will be keen to bounce back from the defeat when his side faces Nottingham Forrest in their next Premier League outing. The Red Devils sit in 11th place with 19 points after 14 games.
