5. Cedric Bakambu: Villarreal to Beijing Guoan, £35.3m

The France-born Congo international may not be a household name, but he is now one of the most expensive players on the planet after signing a contract with Beijing Guoan of the Chinese Super League.

The striker was linked with moves to Newcastle, Tottenham, West Brom and West Ham. But he has turned down those options to make a bumper contract in China's capital city.

Bakambu scored 48 goals in just 105 games for the Yellow Submarine after arriving from Bursaspor in 2015. He scored 14 goals in 21 games across all competitions for Villarreal this season.
