2. Virgil van Dijk: Southampton to Liverpool, £75m

Liverpool paid £75million to bring the Holland international from Southampton before the window had even opened. Jurgen Klopp's side "had attempted to sign the center-back in the summer and finally managed to get the deal over the line in January".

Van Dijk's addition to Liverpool's squad was a much-needed move from Jurgen Klopp. Van Dijk is wearing the No.4 jersey for the Reds.

He remains to be the most highly-priced defender in the world after breaking the previous record set by Chelsea defender David Luiz.
