However, despite the absence of he legendary duo, somethings remained the same and Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid yet again, with Luis Suarez the star of the show with a hat-trick while Philippe Coutinho and Arturo Vidal also got in on the act.
Marcelo scored for Real Madrid to make it 2-1 but the defeat left a bitter taste in Real Madrid's mouth and it did not come as a surprise when Julen Lopetegui was sacked in the immediate aftermath of the match, having taken charge of just 14 games in the Los Blancos dugout.
