Arsenal's highest profile signing of the Emirates era, Mesut Ozil, came to the Premier League amidst much fanfare. The German playmaker was regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world during his time at Real Madrid, and was a statement signing by the Gunners in 2013.

Ozil had a few stellar seasons at Arsenal, and his signing coincided with the club ending their decade-long wait for a trophy with their 2013-14 FA Cup triumph. But Ozil failed to win the Premier League with the Gunners.

He bagged 33 goals and 58 assists in 184 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, and was a part of four FA Cup-winning teams. The German was forced out of the club earlier this year, and has since joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

#2 Robin van Persie

Robin van Persie had established himself as one of the best strikers in the world while at Arsenal. The Dutchman joined the Gunners in 2004, and went on to become the club captain in 2011.

Van Persie was ruthless in front of goal, picking up the 2011-12 Premier League Golden Boot (30 goals in 38 games) while at the club. The Dutchman also won the FWA Footballer of the year award that season, and led Arsenal to a top-four finish despite playing for a massively weakened team.

However, the Dutchman forced a transfer to Manchester United in 2012, due to a lack of silverware at Arsenal. The move was immensely beneficial for the striker, as he won the Premier League title that season.

#1 Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas was adored by Arsenal fans during his stint at the club. The Spaniard came in as a youngster from Barcelona, and went on to establish himself as one of the best Arsenal players of all time.

The midfielder was the heartbeat of Arsene Wenger's side, and was handed the captain's armband in 2008. Cesc Fabregas ran the show at Arsenal, and was widely considered one of the best midfielders in the world during his time at the club.

The Spaniard was technically a part of the Arsenal squad that won the 2003-04 Premier League title. But Fabregas was not awarded a winners' medal, as he did not feature in a single Premier League game that season.

Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal to join his boyhood club Barcelona in 2011 in what was a devastating blow for the Gunners. The Spaniard not winning the Premier League title while at Arsenal can be seen as one of the biggest disappointments during Arsene Wenger's reign at the club.
