Ronaldo drew gasps of disbelief from the Old Trafford faithful when he displayed a moment of quality which seemingly defied all laws of gravity.

Displaying his unique gifts, United's number seven lined up a free-kick from 30 yards out and unleashed a shot that somehow squared up in the air and lashed into the top corner of the goal past a stationery David James.

A goal that cannot be adequately described such was the stupendous skill on display.
