For a period stretching from the mid-1990s to 2004, Arsenal had gone around 9 years without a defeat against Chelsea and no other game exemplified that run more than the unforgettable victory in the London derby at Stamford Bridge back in October 1999. Norwegian striker Tore Andre Flo gave Chelsea the lead just before halftime and Dan Petrescu doubled the lead in the 51st minute to seemingly all but confirm a victory for the hosts in a hotly contested derby game.

Arsenal tried everything and created plenty of chances but the goal did not seem to come. It as not until the 75th minute that they pulled one back through their Nigerian striker Nwankwo Kane and even then, it clearly looked like a consolation goal for the Gunners. However, when he scored the 2nd one in the 83rd minute, the game started slipping away from Chelsea's grasp.

They tried to defend in numbers but one final attack in the last minute of the game saw Kanu running clear of his marker on the left side of the Chelsea half and when the Blues' goalkeeper foolishly charged towards him, Kanu lofted the ball over his head to complete one of the most astonishing comebacks in English football.
