UEFA Champions League Winners: Inter Milan (2010), AC Milan (2007, 2003, 1994), Juventus (1996)

The UEFA Champions League has always had a soft spot for Italian teams. Three Italian clubs have won the competition since it was revamped in 1992-93, a record in itself. No other country boasts more distinct Champions League winners than Italy.

Italy has witnessed five UEFA Champions League victory parades over the last 29 years. Juventus, who have featured 22 times in the competition, have won once. AC Milan, who have returned for the 2021-22 season to mark their 16th participation, have won thrice. Finally, Inter Milan have managed to lift the UEFA Champions League only once, under Jose Mourinho in the 2009-10 campaign.

Italian teams may have lost a bit of pizzazz in Europe, but they still pack plenty of ammunition to spring a surprise.

Alongside Italy, England are the only other country to boast three UEFA Champions League-winning sides. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have all won the title twice each, pushing their country to second place on our list.

Before Chelsea won the title in 2020-21, it was Liverpool who brought the UEFA Champions League to England, in 2018-19. Manchester United, on the other hand, have not lifted UEFA Champions League since their win against Chelsea in the final in 2008.

Manchester United have appeared in 24 iterations of the UEFA Champions League. Arsenal have featured in 19, while Chelsea and Liverpool have featured in 18 and 14 seasons, respectively. Manchester City, who are yet to win the UEFA Champions League, have participated 11 times in the tournament.

Barcelona, on the other hand, are the only team to win two trebles, achieving the rare feat in 2009 and 2015, respectively. They also became the first team to win a sextuple in 2009.
