Chelsea’s first signing was, of course, their new coach, Maurizio Sarri. Sarri however, as good as he is, won’t be considered as a transfer. Instead, he brought a man along with him from Napoli. His trump card, Jorginho.

Jorginho impressed under Sarri for Napoli last season. Roman Abramovich decided to give Sarri what he wanted and signed Jorginho, ahead of Manchester City. Jorginho has been an anchor in the defensive midfield position. He has retained his favourite position ahead of N’Golo Kante and he is creating a huge amount of problem for oppositions. Jorginho has been good on interceptions, on counter attacks and also with his impeccable passing.

Jorginho broke the record for most passes in a single game by a Chelsea player, at the very start of the season. Other than Jorginho, Chelsea also landed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Bilbao. Kepa’s signing was a very sensible choice from the team management. Kepa has a potential that nobody is really aware of and he is young. He has been on the top of his game. His save percentages beat that of Alisson Becker, who was the favourite to win the golden glove this year in EPL.

Chelsea also loaned Mateo Kovacic who has been good off the bench for the Blues. They spent an approximate amount of £123 million on both Jorginho and Kepa. However, both are performing to their level best, which makes Chelsea’s decision to sign them, spot on.
