The Hero Super Cup came to an end and Bengaluru FC became the champion in the first edition of Super Cup, by defeating East Bengal in a monumental final at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

The recently concluded Super Cup witnessed an intense clash between the I-League and ISL clubs, as a result, two heavyweight teams from both the league met in the final.

The combination of Indian, as well as Foreign players in the teams, brought many goals in the competition.

Let us look at some players who scored the most number of goals in this competition.


#6 Willis Plaza

The 30-year-old forward of Churchill Brothers scored three goals in the Super Cup competition and his third goal came against Mohun Bagan in the round of 16; Churchill Brothers made a beautiful comeback with a 2-1 win against Delhi Dynamos and all credit goes to Willis Plaza for his two goals.

Plaza scored an early goal against Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan which definitely gave a glimmer of hope to the team but, Mohun Bagan came from behind and secured a victory with a 2-1 scoreline.

The Ugandan forward made an outstanding performance with Gokulam Kerala FC in the recently concluded I-League; Henry Kisekka took the Super Cup by storm and scored three goals in two matches.

Gokulam Kerala FC performed for the first time in this edition of I-league and finished seventh on the table with 21 points from 18 games.

Gokulam FC started their Super Cup campaign by defeating ISL side NorthEast United FC with two goals which came from the leg of Henry Kisekka.

In the pre-quarterfinal in spite of an early goal from Kisekka, Gokulam Kerala FC lost the game against Bengaluru FC by 2-1.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder of FC Goa scored as well as assisted two goals in Indian Super League.

FC Goa lost against East Bengal in the Super cup semifinal by a solitary goal which came from Dudu, as a result, their journey towards the cup ended.

In spite of a loss, Hugo Boumous made an eye-catching with three goals for the team and fans.

The Cameroonian forward won the highest goal scorer award by scoring 13 goals in the recently concluded I-League.

He won the highest goal scorer award in two consecutive seasons with Shillong Lajong FC and Mohun Bagan.

Dipanda Dicka scored a brace against arch-rival East Bengal in the last derby which won the hearts of the Mohun Bagan supporters, thus his presence in the field gives the team an extra confidence.

Dicka scored four goals in this Super Cup and his two-goal against Churchill Brothers helped the team to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Dicka scored a brace against Bengaluru FC despite a loss in the semi-final.

The 32-year-old Venezuelan forward became the second highest goalscorer by scoring 15 goals in this edition of Indian Super League.

A youth product of Spanish side Valencia, Miku tasted the Indian football for the first time with Bengaluru FC and made a mesmerizing performance in ISL as well as Super Cup.

Miku made an equaliser in a 2-1 win against Gokulam Kerala where Udanta Singh found the back of the net in the dying minutes of the game.

Miku made a jaw-dropping performance against Mohun Bagan in the semi-final by scoring three goals as a result and he added one more goal against East Bengal in the final hence he put five goals besides his name in this competition.

The 33-year-old lethal forward is a household name in the Indian football; Sunil Chhetri scored 14 goals and finished third on the list of highest goal scorer chart in ISL.

The veteran forward played a crucial part in the forward line for Bengaluru FC along with Miku and Udanta Singh.

Chhetri scored a hattrick against the Imphal based team NEROCA FC and secured one more goal in the added time against Mohun Bagan in the semifinal.

Bengaluru FC won the Super Cup by a 4-1 scoreline where two goals came from Chhetri in the second half, making him the top goal scorer with six goals in the competition.
