Top 5 all-time goal scorers in the Merseyside derby

Robbie Fowler
The God, Robbie Fowler scored 6 goals against Everton

#3 Alex Young (Everton) - 12 goals

Alex Young of Everton
Alex Young added a Scottish flavour to the Merseyside derby

A Scottish forward, Alex Young began his career with Scottish sides St Mirren and Falkirk at the turn of the century in 1899. After a year at each club, the Scotsman moved to England and joined Everton on Merseyside in 1901.

After spending a decade with Everton, Alex Young made nearly 300 appearances for the club and scored a bunch of goals in the process. 'Sandy', as he was commonly referred too, scored 12 goals in Merseyside derbies during his time in English football.

He made two appearances for Scotland between 03-05 and left Everton to join Spurs in 1911. However, he failed to make an impact as he moved in a year's time to join Manchester City before he called time on his football career in 1913.
