Tottenham agree deal to sign Belgian winger Nacer Chadli

Dutch Eredivisie - FC Twente v Feyenoord

Nacer Chadli

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed to a £7million deal with Dutch side FC Twente for Belgian winger Nacer Chadli.

The 23-year old Belgian international joins fellow countrymen Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele at White Hart Lane in what will be manager Andre Villas-Boas’ second major summer acquisition after signing Brazilian international Paulinho earlier this month.

A Tottenham statement read: “We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with FC Twente for the transfer of Nacer Chadli.

“Subject to personal terms and medical, the Belgian international winger will join up with the squad for pre-season training in Hong Kong.”

The signing of the 6ft 2in Chadli, who has a dual citizenship having represented Morocco in a non-competitive match before shifting his allegiance towards the country of his birth Belgium, could prove to be a wonderful piece of business given the player’s talent and performance on show in the Eredivisie for the past three years.

Chadli is gifted with pace, physical strength and a sharp eye for goal.

Capped 14 times by Belgium, Nacer Chadli is thought to have agreed terms on a five-year contract with Spurs.

If the transfer passes without any legal hitch, Spurs fans can watch him as early as next week in Hong Kong where Tottenham will participate in the Barclays Asia Trophy.
