After securing a world record move to Real Madrid, Gareth Bale has kicked off fresh controversy on twitter among Tottenham fans for kissing the Real Madrid badge.
“Kissing the badge after being at a club for 3 minutes! Thanks for the memories… But all respect has just gone out the window!”, tweeted a fan.
“Bale kissing the Real badge. I’m shocked at how much that has wound me up,” said another.
Bale had earlier thanked the Tottenham fans on his account for their support over the six years he spent at Spurs.
“I wanted to come here and play the best football and I’m going to give 100 per cent and try to help the team to win things. The transfer (fee) had nothing to do with me – that’s between Real Madrid and Tottenham. I wanted to come here whether it was for a penny or whatever it cost,” said the Welshman on a press conference on Monday.
The transfer fee is believed to be worth 100million euros (£85.3million), which breaks current record of £80m Madrid paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.
